“Kiteezi” by Njola Impressions is a striking new exhibition in Austria by Ugandan artist and fashion creative Nabukenya Allen. The work transforms discarded materials into powerful visual statements, blending fashion, art, and environmental activism into a single immersive experience. Through this exhibition, Njola reimagines waste as a medium for storytelling, renewal, and resilience.
Inspired by the Kiteezi landfill in Kampala, Uganda, and the devastating 2024 landslide that deeply affected surrounding communities, the exhibition reflects on the human and environmental cost of waste. Using materials such as old tires, plastic bags, and worn-out flip-flops, Njola creates bold installations that challenge how we view consumption and disposal.
“Kiteezi” ultimately draws attention to the interconnected issues of environmental destruction, social inequality, and community resilience. On display in Austria at Weltmuseum Wien from May 29 to October 11, 2026, the exhibition invites audiences to rethink their relationship with waste while highlighting the power of art as a tool for awareness and change.
