Kampala-based fashion brand BUZIGAHILL has achieved a major milestone after being named an official winner in the prestigious Berlin Contemporary category for Berlin Fashion Week SS27. The award comes with a €25,000 grant that will help fund the brand’s upcoming runway showcase in Berlin. This achievement places BUZIGAHILL on the global fashion stage and highlights the growing influence of Ugandan creativity in the international fashion industry.
BUZIGAHILL is known for blending contemporary fashion, art, and political commentary in a unique way. Through its bold project, RETURN TO SENDER, the brand transforms and redesigns second-hand clothing into meaningful fashion pieces that question global consumption patterns. By reworking garments that were originally sent from the Global North to Africa and presenting them back on international runways, BUZIGAHILL challenges audiences to think about sustainability, identity, and the movement of goods across the world.
