“Woven Worlds” is a collaborative fashion project led by IGC Fashion (Uganda) and Salford Slow Fashion (UK) that connects Uganda’s ancient Lubugo (barkcloth) tradition with Manchester’s industrial cotton history. The project confronts colonial legacies and modern waste colonialism by exposing how textile waste flows from the UK to Uganda. Through community-led, two-piece costume collections, the designers use fashion as a tool for education, resistance, and social change.
