Royal Wedding

All The Mean Things Ugandans Have Said About Meghan Markle’s Wedding Dress

By  |

Trust Ugandans when it comes to opinions, the royal wedding was no different. As always, they took to social media to critique all the fashion at the event. And of course, Megan Markle who is now the Duchess of Sussex did not survive their wrath. The American actress wore a long sleeved crisp white dress with an off the shoulder neckline designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller who is the new creative director at Givenchy.

I will be honest. I understand that British culture is conservative but I expected more from her choice of gown. Si ka #Givenchy naye No, no, nedda. Looks like the queen picked out this design for her…tooooo tooo simple as if she didn’t have enough time to pick it out…I love class with a taste of gorge and glam. She is def beau and gorge except her makeup was a little too flat or not even there….sorry but i expected more. Givenchy always gets away with some things, now he must be out there posing, having added this to #kendalljenners met gala train two-piece pants that swept all the dirt on the floor at the MET gala…where was #Verawang oba shes not known to British royalty? Nedda bambi #RoyalWedding #Meghan#RoyalGown.

That wedding gown is underwhelmingly basic!.. Oba ani yamulibye!!!

I lost gas for the whole thing after seeing the gown.i had to go back and look at Princess Diana’s to relieve my self from the shock

The gown was 2 sizes big👉👉poor Meghan #TheDuchessOfSussex😂😂😂😂

By the way, this is her second wedding. Perhaps that’s why she didn’t feel the need to combine all aspects of gorge and chose toooooo simple cos she’s been there done that and has been through the wedding excitement b4 . You know that feeling of kwanjularing the second time, just like the second baby ain’t as exciting as the first birth..hehehehehe…. Now i want to see her first wedding gown to compare this pretty well. Why would anyone bring up tradition for choice in the royal gown mbu she didnt want to outshine kate…we are the world and we buy such brands. Givenchy gets credit for this forever yet its so underwhelming. Verawang has been in this wedding gown.game for decades…i wish she had been behind this for a whooping $200,000k budget.

I think she’s pregas. She was just so beautiful though. And yes…much as we want to ignore it, this wasn’t her 1st wedding. The initial ideology died. Now maybe she was more focused on what was really important – the marriage and not the wedding. P

The freckles… I couldn’t get my eyes around them. The blackheads… Yanyita Kahay’ori.

The fabric may even have been as cheap as $20,000k then they sell us the story mbu $500k coz some famous designer inflated its price. Just coz shes royalty.im sure theres no fabric worth more than gold or diamonds. Warrizdis?

I decided to leave the things of Royals to the royals.. But in my small world the gown refused yes its not my wedding but that plain dress and 0 make up failed me

Sincerely it looked like an inner lining, soon you will see our champs here taking on the trend,

However, some were in defense of the creation

Although the dress may initially appear simple, the fabric and tailoring likely drove the cost up. It’s now rumoured that the Givenchy may have cost $500,000 or more, Kim Kardashian wore one at her 2014 wedding to Kanye West, it was valued at $500,000

Anyway…the reason kla babes ain’t feeling that gown is cause that was the copy and paste fashion of every kwanjula cake cutting dress. Always in kikooyi..or with that gomesi sash.. or with a train tucked from the back. As in that fashion has been done from 1998. We expected something wow! Otherwise we are happy….. God bless their marriage. .. May they live happily ever After.

Comeon really!!! The white dress was “modern” complemented by traditional long sleeves. “Very elegant and sophisticated.” This is Meghan’s DDay & this is the dress she chose & wanted. Ladies… ITS HER DAY. SUCK IT UP & CELEBRATE WITH A SISTER. She’s simple & modern. Hollywood is who she is. She has rocked all the designers on the red carpets… This time she stood up in advocating Love & simplicity… Plan your own taste on your day. Congratulations Meghan & My Prince Harry… Diana (RIP) is obviously smiling down on her sons.😍

This is not African where many think make up and glittering staff are a must on weddings. I like her style.

You will do whatever you want on your wedding, it was Meghan’s wedding and she chose to do things her way.. Simple gown and minimal makeup… I loved the simplicity!!

Probably if you read more about their lifestyle, you’d see why she has always had a less is more look. Their second date was in a tent in Botswana, proposal was at Harry’s cottage. There’s almost nothing in their life that points to flashiness. Her gown was absolutely stunning and was made by the first female artistic director of the Givenchy brand.
P. S Givenchy himself died in March 2018 (there’s no way “he’d always get away with some things”) and the brand is currently owned by a multinational conglomerate called LVMH.
