Meghan Markle Shakes Up The Fashion World With Guest Editing Gig For British Vogue

By  |

Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex has been busy. In the midst of appearances at Lion King and globetrotting with her prince, she has been hard at work to present a royally fab Vogue edition for September this year. It was announced on 28th July and the internet cannot get enough! The previews of the edition look promising; with features such as an exclusive interview with former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama as well as influential women from all fields of life; from arts to politics and even authors. Names set to feature in the issue include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Laverne Cox (who would be the first trans person to feature on the cover of British Vogue), Yara Shahidi and supermodel Adut Aketch.

The issue is under the theme ‘Forces for Change’ and will feature 16 influential people on the cover, the 16th slot which will be filled by a reflective silver mirror so that, yes, you will be a part of the issue as a force for change.

Such a high powered issue has to have taken some time to create, and the Duchess mentioned she had been working on it with the British Vogue Editor-In-Chief, Edward Enninful since as far as January.

“These last seven months have been a rewarding process, curating and collaborating with Edward Enninful, British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, to take the year’s most-read fashion issue and steer its focus to the values, causes and people making impact in the world today,” the Duchess said. “Through this lens I hope you’ll feel the strength of the collective in the diverse selection of women chosen for the cover as well as the team of support I called upon within the issue to help bring this to light. I hope readers feel as inspired as I do, by the ‘Forces for Change’ they’ll find within these pages.”
