As Meghan Markle was planning her royal reveal, Ugandan TV star was also plotting her own to walk the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival. This is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries from all around the world. Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is held usually in May at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Our own Anita Fabiola was invited to attend the festival, and who else was more suited to dress her for this iconic appearance than Beryl Qouture by Anita Beryl.

As much as the internet wasn’t convinced by the pictures that made the rounds this week, Fabiola actually walked the red carpet in not just one or two gorgeous gowns by the Ugandan couture house at the film festival. She was also able to mingle and interact with the world’s best talent in film production.

“My experience at the Cannes Film Festival has been life-changing in so many ways. This being the biggest film festival in the world, all the biggest names in film and television in one place, it allows you to network, attend master classes, learn and pitch projects. Which is exactly what I’ve been up to. There are a lot of projects that my team and I are putting together and we can’t wait to represent our country in bigger markets,” the TV star and actress shared in a statement.

Anita Beryl, creative director of Beryl Qouture hasn’t yet recovered from the excitement of seeing her creations at such as an iconic event. It’s almost like what Sarah Burton felt when Kate Middleton walked out during her wedding in 2011.

“First and foremost, as a designer, it was very exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time when Fabiola came in and asked that we make gowns, but these were not just ordinary gowns, but gowns that were going to Cannes Film Festival,” she shared with excitement.

“It was very scary hoping that we can maybe pull off something beautiful in such a short time. So it’s really exciting and above all, it was really an honour for Fabiola to think of us knowing that we would pull off a great job in a short time especially for such a big event. And then being one of the designers whose works were at Cannes Film Festival, that’s a dream. You feel like you’re on your way to something big because that is the place you want to put your creations to match the event. When you’re at Cannes, you’re dealing with the world’s top designers and actors. It was such a pride seeing Fabiola in designs made here on that carpet close to the biggest actresses and actors. We can’t thank her enough.”

“After Cannes what do you do? Maybe the Grammys or the Oscars,” she added.
