How Rema Single-handedly Ruled Independence Day
Independence day is that public holiday we look forward to for that much needed extra hour of sleep as we flip through TV channels airing the national celebrations. Yesterday was a different story altogether, though.
With a series of botched concerts, a Kukyala that waited to happened on a public holiday, and more, we barely had time to rest. Rema, the singer with an angelic voice, single-handedly ruled the day, not with her voice, but her Kukyaala ceremony. Traditionally, a Kukyaala is a very intimate event, attended by just a few members of the families involved.
But, Rema invited all of us to hers, the kind of invitation we couldn’t turn down. Her day started with yummy breakfast she had via Insta-stories, giving us a glimpse into her pre-event beauty look, which was super flawless.
The singer spent the rest of the day giving us minute by minute updates of her event; from the glorious decor, her makeup to her extensive collection of gowns. Everything about her event was larger than life, and she made sure the internet (us) got a clear view of it all.
Later in the evening, she took to Instagram to share photos from the exquisite photo shoots she and Hamza had had. With the pressure and fatigue of putting this kind of event together, we were left wondering how she managed to have time to ‘live instagram’ the ceremony.
But what’s independence without the freedom and luxury to be a superhero? It’s not easy to grab attention from the president, but she did it so effortlessly.
