Hannah Karema’s utilitarian style at the first Makerere University Guild Presidential Debate made a strong statement. Clad in a military-style suit and combat boots, she took a bold and serious stand on stage. Her look showed she is ready to lead and stand her ground, while still standing out from the crowd and drawing attention.
Hannah Karema Tumukunde, who was Miss Uganda 2023/24, is now running in the 2026/2027 guild elections. She could make history as the first Miss Uganda alum to become Guild President at Makerere University. Her campaign focuses on student voices, fair tuition, government allowances, and better support for finalists. In a space often led by men, her entry shows that things are changing, and she is one of the candidates to watch.
