Mother's Day

“You Have Never Given Up On Me” – Irene Nnamiiro

By  |

Hello Mummy Irene,

I hope you’re doing well, send my greetings to all at home. I am writing this letter to let you know that you’re the “MOTHER OF THE YEAR”.

I never knew what life is until when I had to grow up, so many things you do and have done make me feel you deserve the crown of the mother of the year, the makeover, the stunning gown made by the best fashionista and all treasures in the world. I want them to see the beauty that is hidden under your wrinkles, faint smile and cracked feet. I don’t know how life feels without you, the tireless hardworking selfless woman. Accepting to get married to a man with old kids, raising them as your own is something most of us today are failing to do.

We fall short with our friends, sisters, and brothers but because of you, I have learned to live along with people. There are things I can never forget about you breastfeeding me for 3.5 years, the Cains you gave me, moral, spiritual guidance is helping me stay in my lane. You have fought for me, fought for my rights without even your knowledge that you’re doing so. My right to life, education, family, health and many others, I’m living today because you didn’t abort  me you didn’t throw me away even when my family insisted that no girl should go to school, you stood up for us to go to school, you didn’t have a job apart from the groundnuts and beans you used to grow .

I was able to go to school with my siblings. The continued struggles you make even make me love you more. You’re one woman who doesn’t know which work is meant for men and one for women because when father is delayed somewhere I watch you go to the farm to take care of the animals. Accepting to be a father, friend, tailor, neighbor, mother, and housewife makes me feel you deserve a dinner just to appreciate you for being the best mother.

I have grown in a try and error life but I have never seen you give up not because you have but I can’t forget to thank you for being the best mother in the world and my prayer is that God rewards you abundantly.

Your lovely daughter,

NNAMIIRO KYAZIKE IRENE
