Wearing Camouflage Print Clothing in Uganda Could Mean Jail Time

By  |

In a new directive, Uganda Police has banned the wearing of the replica of military or police attire with the famous camouflage print, Nilepost.co.ug reports. During the police’s weekly press briefing at their headquarters in Naguru last week, Deputy police spokesperson Patrick Onyango urged the public and sellers of clothing with camouflage print to hand it to security agencies as soon as possible.

In a message to the Director in charge of Operations in the Uganda Police Force AIGP Asuman Mugenyi, all Regional Police Commanders, District Police Commanders, Officers in Charge of Police Stations and all unit commanders have been urged to step up against civilians wearing the replica of military wear.

“Most of the owners use the uniforms or similar clothes to perpetrate crime. Quite often the unsuspecting public believe that the perpetrators of these crimes are security personnel especially the military,”Mugenyi says in a directive to police commanders dated April 6 according to Nilepost.co.ug.

The report goes ahead to indicate that those found in possession of the clothing will get arrested.
