In the latest episode of Originaires, now out on YouTube, performing artist Vinka opens up about some of her hit songs that almost didn’t make it out of the studio because of doubts over their potential.
Vinka says she had to fight for “Bailando,” even going as far as holding a listening party with boda boda riders, where her new songs were rated. “Bailando” came out number one and went on to receive a Grammy consideration.
On her pregnancy, Vinka says she was adamant about keeping the news private because of how the media had treated her in the past. She decided to hide her pregnancy with the help of Ugandan designer Kaijuka Abbas of Kis Divo Collection, who designed outfits that concealed her baby bump during gigs. Vinka says she will forever be grateful to him.
