The milestone anniversary event will bring together Miss Universe Uganda finalists, award winning designers, and inspiring stories of women building independent futures through opportunity.
Jinja, Uganda
Ten years ago, A Woman’s Worth began with a simple belief: when women are given the opportunity to learn, earn, and believe in themselves, entire families and communities are transformed. On 11 July, that decade-long journey culminates in a premier anniversary event, “Threads of Transformation”, bringing together former beneficiaries, development partners, the creative industry, and the wider community to celebrate ten years of impact.
Over the past decade, A Woman’s Worth has supported more than 400 women through skills training, entrepreneurship, and personal development, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and greater independence. For many participants, the programme has meant starting a business, returning children to school, providing stable incomes, and discovering confidence they never knew they had.
While fashion is at the heart of the evening, “Threads of Transformation” is not simply a traditional fashion show. The event opens with a short documentary celebrating ten years of impact and weaves cinematic storytelling, music, and live presentations throughout the evening. Every collection tells a distinct story of transformation. Some garments have been created by women who, only a few years ago, had little or no source of income. Today, they are skilled makers, entrepreneurs, and role models within their communities.
The runway will feature collections created by students and graduates of the A Woman’s Worth Fashion Academy, showcasing the skills, creativity, and confidence they have developed throughout their journey. These rising creators will share the stage alongside collections from renowned, award-winning Ugandan designers Kais Divo Collection and Sham Tyra.
As an official Empowerment Partner of Miss Universe Uganda, A Woman’s Worth is also proud to welcome the national finalists to Jinja as part of this milestone celebration. Their participation brings national attention to the achievements of the women behind every design and highlights the growing importance of women-led social impact initiatives in Uganda.
“People often see the glamour of fashion, but they don’t always see the stories behind it,” says Susan Geurts, Founder and Director of A Woman’s Worth. “We don’t change lives through fashion. We change lives through opportunity. Fashion simply became the language we use to tell those stories.”
The evening will be hosted by popular media personalities MC Deedan and MC Malaika, and produced in partnership with industry leaders Joram Model Management and ATS Events.
