The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced “extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday” as the theme for its 2027 Costume Institute exhibition and Met Gala.
The exhibition will explore how designers transform everyday clothing, familiar objects and ordinary materials into extraordinary works of fashion. Think everyday wardrobe staples reimagined through creativity, craftsmanship and unexpected designs.
The 2027 Met Gala will take place on May 3, 2027, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with the exhibition opening to the public on May 9. Now, the big question is how celebrities and designers will interpret the theme on the red carpet.
