Following the resounding success of the CDNA fashion showcase which held in March, a partnership between the Bold Woman Fund, the British Council, and Bold in Africa, The Bold Woman Fund has officially unveiled the Creative DNA (CDNA) Uganda Look Book. This curated collaborative collection serves as a visual manifesto for the future of African fashion, bringing together a cohort of visionary designers to explore the intersections of sustainability, co-creation, and conscious design.
The lookbook is the creative culmination of a rigorous journey. Developed using repurposed fabrics provided by the CDNA programme, the collection challenged designers to look beyond the “new” and instead transform existing materials into fresh, fashion-forward pieces.
The results are both expressive and commercially relevant, proving that responsible fashion does not have to sacrifice aspiration for ethics. This collection is a powerful statement on what becomes possible when creativity meets responsibility, reflecting the forward-looking spirit that defines the Creative DNA programme.
At the heart of this lookbook are the distinct voices of the CDNA cohort. The collection features the work of six primary designers, each of whom brought a unique aesthetic to the collaborative capsule; Sawe Collections, KIJANA, Ntale, Shurea, Amelia, and Joan Jade. The designers were supported by a wider ecosystem of creatives who collaborated on accessories, including jewelry and bags, reinforcing the programme’s commitment to building a holistic fashion industry in Uganda.
“This lookbook captures a vision—celebrating design that is thoughtful, relevant, and shaped by more conscious approaches to production. It stands as both a creative outcome and an invitation to imagine a more responsible future for fashion.”
This Lookbook is a part of the Creative DNA Uganda programme, led by British Council in partnership with The Bold Woman Fund and Bold in Africa.
