Sickle Cell Anaemia Won’t Stop Fauzan Ssebagala Of Weren’t Born Rich From Winning!

By  |

Meet Fauzan Ssebagala!

At 23 years old, Ssebagala is one the directors of Weren’t Born Rich, a community interest company behind a clothing line with the same name. You’ve probably seen a lot of their stuff on this platform.

He suffers from sicke cell anaemia, just like his young sister Nabila, who founded the company.

He studied Accounting & Finance at university, and is currently purchasing his ACCA certificate.

Outside of work at (WBR), Ssebagala is involved in raising awareness for sickle cell disease both in the UK and in Uganda. He recently worked on an awareness project in London together with National Health Service and other organisations.

Sickle cell anaemia plays a big part in his life and he aims to spend the rest of his life fighting to reduce the painful effects the disease comes with, and also help create as much awareness as possible to save the lives of others.

“Please make sure you and your partner go for a test before you choose to conceive. No one deserves to go through the pain I go through every day,” he cries out.

Sickle cell anaemia is a debilitating disease, he is always on strong medication, and in and out of hospital. But that’s not stopping him from going forward to live his life normally. He recently got married and plans on travelling the whole world with his wife.

What are you doing with your life? Don’t let the challenges you face define who you are or your story.
