Ronah and John Sat in The Same Class during Primary School and at University

By  |

Ronah, an accountant, and John, a tax consultant, have literally been together their whole life! They grew up in the same neighbourhood, and attended the same primary school, where they sat in the same classroom all through. “We later joined different secondary schools,” Ronah recounts, something that split them apart for 6 complete years. But, because they were meant to be together, the couple reunited at university, again doing the same course and sitting in the same lecture hall. “We have basically been friends for over 18 years,” she laughs.

“All the while we were just friends, we actually began dating in 2013 while at university,” she recalls. “He then gave me a promise ring in 2018 promising to stay true to me and I, as well, promised him that I would stay true to him while we wait to make our relationship official.”

The couple, now Mr. And Mrs. Mooli, tied the knot on 27th November, 2021, before hosting a lavish wedding bash at La Jolla in Kisaasi.

Proposal

Jon proposed to me in 2020 on the 8th day of November at Serena Kigo, while on a boat ride. I had always hinted to him that I wanted a private proposal so that I would truly express myself because I am shy, and having people around would make it hard for me!

Planning the wedding

I had one of the best experiences planning our wedding because I had a good  support team with Jon leading it. For starters, I literally planned my Gusaba alone with countable friends and family.  This took a toll on me; I got overwhelmed and worked so hard. So, for the wedding Jon decided to handle most of the things with our committee and his best friend Andrew. However, they occasionally asked for an input, because this had to be my dream wedding.

The gown

Choosing my gown was a long process; I had so many people advising me and, considering I am a swift decision maker, I didn’t want the decision of choosing my gown to be on me because I didn’t want to settle for something very fast. I always do that.   Anyway, thanks to their help and guidance, I later settled for a dress design my matron Felly and I chanced upon and loved.  I later on met with ace-couturier Fatumah Asha, who exercised the highest level of professionalism and care. I must say I loved her service and attention to detail. Also, she’s so sweet, it all turned out as envisioned.

His suit

Well, for Jon, I really had no input because I trust his sense of style and I was confident he was going to nail it!
