Our Woman Crush Wednesday is Tiffany Haddish
By now, you should have figured out that I love reading. But, that’s not the only reason I admire this beautiful comedian, Tiffany Haddish. She’s a hot, brave, stylish author and actress with a great sense of humor. In her book, THE LAST BLACK UNICORN, she describes what she’s been through in life. Most of it was sad, but she chooses to laugh about it. I love women that understand their hustle, share knowledge and remain positive about it. She’s earned her place on the A-List and you can see it through her sense of fashion.
Although some actresses borrow dresses from designers or have custom gowns made, Haddish chose to wear her own clothes to the 2018 Oscars last Sunday. The Girls Trip’ actress wore a traditional Eritrean dress called a zuria on the red carpet to honor her late father who lived in the country till he passed on last year. It’s a dress worn by women in Eritrea and Ethiopia, topped with a cape called a kaba, worn mostly by Habesha brides and grooms at wedding ceremonies.
She later changed into a white Alexander McQueen dress to present an award at the event. Interestingly, this was the third time she was wearing this white dress. Going against the Hollywood fashion rule of thumb of ‘never to wear a red carpet dress more than once’.
Her response to this was even more ‘Haddish’. I don’t give a dang about no taboo. I spent a lot of money on this dress! This dress cost way more than my mortgage,” she said during her SNL monologue. “This a Alexander McQueen, okay? It’s a $4,000 dress. I’m going to wear this dress multiple times.”
“I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, however many times I want, as long as I’ve Febreezed it,” she added.
Haddish will be hosting the MTV Movie in June.
Still wondering why I continue to have a crush on her?
