Nigerian Stylist Swanky Jerry features on GQ South Africa. The stylist has worked with A-list superstars such as Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Pearl Thusi and Pearl Modiadie, Sarkodie, Nyanda, AKA and more, with the magazine, Swanky talks about his career and Netflix’s first-ever reality show dubbed Young, Famous and African that he features in too.

On his career, the award-winning stylist had this to say, “My career has been interesting, a rollercoaster of lessons, experiences and growth,’ he says. ‘It began over a decade ago when I launched my brand. I started as a designer, making shoes, waistcoats, bow ties and backpacks. But the people I was working with didn’t care about fashion and weren’t in tune with what dressing someone else entails and what a stylist brings to the creative sphere – for them being a stylist wasn’t a big thing. I had to convince, show and prove to them the value of what I was doing. I love, enjoy and believe in fashion, but I had to help others feel that way too – and it wasn’t easy to win people over.”

According to GQ South Africa, the glitzy reality-series-slash-real-life-soap-opera follows a group of young, affluent, A-list media personalities from South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. The seven-part series stars Swanky Jerry himself, Diamond Platnumz, Khanyi Mbau, Annie Macaulay Idibia, 2Baba, Zari the Boss Lady, Naked DJ, Andile Ncube and Kayleigh Schwark, among whom are rivalries, new friendships and romantic connections and headline-making stories. Africa’s brightest stars give viewers access to their glamorous lives as they navigate life in Joburg.

And Swanky Jerry too had this to say about the series, “I said yes to the series because I wanted to inspire people, particularly youths who don’t believe they deserve certain things. I also wanted to show viewers who I am and what I’ve created. Young, Famous & African allows me to not only expand my empire but show a global audience the guy behind the scenes, my human side. More importantly, I wanted the world to see Africa’s beautiful, wealthy, sexy and vibrant side. “
