Of late the Kikoyi design fabric is being reworked and creatively manipulated in the latest fashion looks and I’m all for it! The iconic stripey red yellow and white design is as versatile as the designer chooses to make it and this look was no exception.
Here Natasha Sinayobye posted on her Instagram a strong look with the kikoyi design taking centre stage. The dress which was mostly red shone through with the mermaid silhouette and gold earrings. her makeup was understated, leaving the dress to do the talking. It was a creation by Ipigogo House of Fashion.
I love the way this dress pays homage to the East African culture with the kikoyi design, but they made it in a way that was less “village” and more “glam”. The way it is balanced with the red dress and the plunging neckline make it a more accessible, updated look. The ruffles that are added to the kikoyi add to the allure; this ensemble was giving me all romantic vibes and I LOVE it!
