Ms Atai, A Game-Changing Hair Line is Launching in Kampala Tomorrow

By  |

“Wig life is the best life,” Brenda Atai laughs as she speaks exclusively to Satisfashion UG about Ms Atai, her hair line. Atai, a 28-year-old entrepreneur born in Uganda but raised in Great Britain started the business last year thanks to her insatiable desire for quality hair.

“I’ve always loved hair. Hair to me isn’t just an accessory, but something that makes you feel more feminine and good about yourself,” she shares. “That’s why I really wanted to share this gift with other women,” she continues.

Atai immediately launched Ms Atai in London, a line that provides premium quality virgin human hair at reasonable price points. The brand ships worldwide, something she considers “an opportunity we have now as millennials to build globally recognized brands from wherever we are.” One of the countries she’s been shipping to is Uganda, her home.

“It has always been my dream to have a business in Uganda. It’s a personal thing to me, because it being home, I’m able to contribute to the economy of my country whilst sharing my gift with Ugandan women,” she muses. So, last year when an opportunity came her way to travel to Kampala for a friend’s traditional wedding, Atai saw it as an opportunity to launch Ms Atai in Kampala.

Ms Atai launches tomorrow at a swanky cocktail party slated to hold at Holy Crepe in Kololo. The invite-only event will be an immersive experience where guests will have an intimate connection with the brand, understand its ethos and also get to hear Atai’s story. If you haven’t received an invitation, don’t feel so bad, Satisfashion UG will be in attendance to get a 360 degree coverage of the launch.

Atai, who considers Bukedea her birthplace, picked her surname from her great grandmother, whom she says “is a great inspiration to me.” “Ms. Atai is a representation of my heritage, dreams and aspirations,” she adds. Her dream is to build a powerful beauty brand that offers more than hair, and with a strong presence in Africa and abroad.

“Also, at some point I want to retire here in Uganda,” she muses with a grin.
