Meet George Katuramu, The Web Developer Making Online Payments More Accessible To You

By  |

In a time when many transactions are preferably cashless, George Katuramu and his company Ticteq are bridging the gap and helping people get paid in a more convenient way.

Started 2 years ago, Ticteq was the answer to inconveniences in paying for tickets to events. “It all started when I attended a show at National Theatre, but there was a long queue, and I thought people shouldn’t have to stress like this” George explains, “I’m a web developer, so I started on fixing that problem”

Much as the mobile application didn’t necessarily catch on, this didn’t stop George. He pivoted it into a web app, which can be accessible to anyone, at any time. To make things even more convenient, they went on to make a USSD Code which can be used on any phone, even if it isn’t a smartphone. Dialing *217*233# could get you all the services you need.

But it didn’t end there! During the lockdown, newer avenues to Ticteq were added, which allows for selling books as well as crowdfunding. That means you can host wedding meetings online! Anyone can sign up and have an account where people can contribute money to, for whatever cause. This is great for all sorts of fundraisers and especially weddings, that can be tricky to plan during this time. Authors also have the opportunity to self publish on the site, so they can sell their work and earn a living from their creativity.
