Manning Up: Don’t Let Money Ruin Your Life

A man’s existence is adjudged by two things. Sustenance and love.  Everything that we do in-between is to satisfy either of those two or both where need be.  We go to wars. We toil. We sacrifice.  All this in order to make one of those work. Failure to do good by them is failure to live.

Very few things on this planet are able to satisfy either of those concurrently.  The only universal one is money.  If you don’t have money, even your relatives will rarely post you on their WhatsApp statuses. Unless you are handsome of course. Otherwise if you die on your way home,  they’ll eat your dinner. The biggest thing that pushes a man to achieve is love. For family and for a woman. Women too need to be sustained and the easiest way to do that is to give her money to cater to her needs. If a woman asks money from you and you don’t have, you have to look for it in an instant. Request for an advance, sell your shoes, borrow while swearing to your mother that you’ll pay. Do something.  Anything.

Once In a while,  we all run into hardships. The only way to sail through this is to maintain a thick bond of friendship with your guy friends. Always help your friends so that when it’s your time to seek help, they can remember that one time.

Secondly, saving sounds funny but it works. Don’t invest all your money. Put aside some.  Even if it’s 20k a week, it can give you a start when u really need it. Saving is the hardest thing to do but just as you learn stuff growing up,  you can learn it step by step.

Never postpone your landlord. Youth always end up doing this. Pay up and starve tomorrow in a house with running water. An angry landlord can make your life hell. You could lose things you’ve spent a lifetime building.

Lastly, the least expensive way is, to be honest, and stern. The first lesson I learned from my mother was not to live beyond my means. If you do, you start to lie. If you lie you start a whole new wave of chaos in your life. Tell her you don’t have money at the moment. She will decide for herself if you are worth anything without money. It’s a quick way to know the person you are breaking yourself over.
