Jameson Humpday, The Perfect Midweek Munchies

As seen on africanbrunch.wordpress.com

Wednesdays are all about balance, between busy Monday and chill Friday. This is why Jameson Irish Whiskey discovered the secret in getting Kampala’s party people together ahead of the long weekends. I was joined by three friends for this food spree though we were a bit too early. The Jameson HumpDay happens every Wednesday at The Alchemist Kitchen in Bugolobi. It starts at 4pm, so when we got there at 3pm we had to wait for an hour in order to have the meals as per the Jameson menu. By 6pm people were walking in and the restaurant was slowly starting to fill up.

But overall, we had a good time and are looking forward to the next Wednesday. Here are some of the meals we ordered for.

Altogether, Chicken Peri Peri, Humpday rack, and Chicken Caesar sliders. Every meal comes with a free Jameson whiskey cocktail or Sprite. The cocktails were not overbearing considering I’m not a whiskey drinker.

Chicken Peri Peri

A combination of spicy, salty and sweet. The chicken was tender and marinated in flavor. We thought that since it is marinated with “peri peri” sauce the spiciness would be over consuming but this wasn’t the case.
It costs UGX 25,000

Humpday Rack

Ribs, sausages and chicken wings in one meal. The meat is tender and flavorful, you wouldn’t need to add ketchup or chilli sauce to it unless you want to. “The muchomo stick was juicy and the chicken relatively easy to eat with a fork and knife. However the pork defeated me, it was huge, I had to call for backup,” one of my lunch dates recounts. It cost Ughs35,000.

Chicken Cesar Sliders

They are so tender, they melt in your mouth. However, they were of average taste in comparison with other restaurants. These cost UGX 25,000.

Of course your Humpday meal would be incomplete without a burst-in-your-mouth fries as a side dish:
