I Graduated in March, Had my Kwanjula in May and Wedding in June!

By  |

Mr Kato Vincent Kafumbe and Maria Mutebi Kafumbe exchanged their marriage vows at Entebbe Miracle center in June 2017. They met through church mutual friends and dated for one year and a half before tying the knot.

The Engagement

He told me his siblings wanted to meet and have dinner with me. He also asked me to come along with my best friend. We met at a certain restaurant in Entebbe. So after dinner he got down on one knee and asked. However I had suspected he would ask even before that day.

The kwanjula.

I got my gomesis from Jjemba plaza. Dream functions decorated. It was perfect as I had envisioned.

The wedding

I graduated from University in March, had my Kwanjula in May and wedding in June. It was hectic, I had little time to plan that I focused more on the kwanjula than the wedding. So we planned in like a month. I was actually very stressed about my wedding because we had everything as last minute planning.

(Didn’t you have helping hands)

I did, but also wanted to do everything by myself.

(Little bridezilla)

We planned for 300 guests but we had party crashers so we got almost 100 extra guests. Being a pastor’s daughter, all church members wanted to attend. Our reception was at Sienna beach Entebbe because I desired an outdoor setting and next to water.

Theme

We wanted peach and turquoise blue but the decorator did peach and dark green. I was so pissed I swear!

(You didn’t ask for samples/portfolio before booking.)

I didn’t. Due to timing, I met her once and promised to do her best. My matron had recommended her.

Decor

I didn’t like my decor. The lady I wanted was booked for another function that same day and almost everything was taken. She had done my kwanjula. My matron suggested another who she praised and I went in.

The outfits

I wore two gowns. Cinderella for church then mermaid for reception. We went local so we got everything from  Namaganda plaza. My gowns were both hired. The groom and his people got from a shop along Luwum  street.

We had 6 grown up girls,2 middle aged gals and 3 flower girls. For our maids, we purchased for them dresses. All those six girls booked me just after the kukyala and swore  to kill me if they weren’t part of my entourage. The young ones, those are kids I love most and their mothers. And my changing dress was from Unique Bridals.

The wow moment

Me of course and the decor but the decor let me down.

Best moment

Walking into church with my dad

Song you walked down the aisle to

At last by Elton. I watched it on Glee and swore if I ever got married it had to be that.

(It’s a very beautiful song)

First dance

None. My husband is quite shy so we did a general dance.

The cake

It was vanilla and coconut by Palmarius cakes

Makeup and salon

Makeup by Pickey. I didn’t want to look different so I went with a natural look. I had two trials before. I hate it when people look different. I even almost rejected the lashes. The hair was done by Faizol from Alpha salon Entebbe. They did both functions and worked on the whole entourage.

Advice to future grooms/brides.

They should give themselves good time to plan.

The problem with standing in the middle of the room is that you become part of the narrative and the power to tell the story is stripped off you. I pour it out in writing, shaping the river into words.
