We met in school at Bishop Cipriano Secondary School in 1986 and we became close friends for many years after that. In 1992, he proposed, and we got married in 1993, 27th August.

Fondest Memories of your wedding 30 years ago:

It was a simple and classy wedding, we had all we wanted and prayed for. The main celebrant was the Late Right Rev, Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo. Our parents on both sides witnessed us make our vows.

We had the greatest gift from our friends and family, their presence at that time not only contributed to making a beautiful lasting memory for us but it also reminded us to be grateful for our family and our children.

The venue was well decorated and we had a live band that entertained us at the reception, it was at the famous Athena Club which was famous back in the years in Lower Kololo. From Kololo we drove to Kabalagala at a place called Roco Bar for the after-party.

Describe your journey/experience of being together for 30 years:

Having God at the center of our marriage made it easy for us and over time we gained experience about the dos and don’ts from each other. Trusting each other and being faithful to each other made us overcome obstacles. Loving and respecting each other helped us reconcile with one another when either of us made an error. Praying for each other and our children also made our family strong.

We cherish memories together and appreciate the deep bond we have nurtured over time, 30 years of marriage is a significant milestone for us as a couple and a source of great personal fulfillment to the family. We look at the positives from each other and close our eyes and ears to the negatives. We don’t entertain rumors either from family or friends.

Communication in our marriage has been key and amidst all the challenges we have faced through the years, we never stopped communicating. Family and friends have all been supportive in this journey of 30 years.
