Fashion Trends That Shouldn’t Follow Us Into The New Year

By  |

Fashion trends in 2019 were about embracing comfort. Many people got themselves into a style rut that stresses “how to dress comfortably” that it got to a point where we are over doing it. It is okay to break fashion rules sometimes, but true style should not be sacrificed at the expense of lazy-comfort. That said, these are the popular 2019 fashion trends that should disappear.

One legged Catsuit

undefined

The one-legged catsuit/tracksuit was made popular by famous runner Florence Griffith-Joyner. Beyonce, Ciara, the Kar Jenners and Vinka have consecutively rocked this trend for a while now. But, while I might be in for bold moves like these, it is unsettling to see anyone wear this. I don’t know what occasion called for this weird ass outfit, I hope we can all move on and forget that it even happened.

Lizzo’s insanely tiny purse

undefined

The “Good as hell” singer’s insanely tiny purse made a big statement at the 2019 American Music Awards. According to Lizzo, the bag was made by Valentino and there are only three of its kind in the world. Twitter blew up after she joked that it contained “tampons, a flask of tequila and some condoms”. This was followed by similar jokes from her fans like, “me bringing all my enthusiasm to work” and “my salary could fit right into that”. Well let’s leave this joke of a bag in 2019.

Biker shorts

undefined

Biker shorts were a very popular trend in the 90s for fitness freaks and have made a comeback thanks to the Kar-Jenner Klan. While the trend is everywhere in 2019, I am glad that it is fading away quickly. Let us save gym for gym. I don’t even know why someone would wear this as an everyday look.

Faux fur slides

undefined

Now someone please explain how this 2018 trend made its way into 2019? Unless you are planning on auditioning for a role in Sesame Street, these faux fur slides better be the first fashion trend to die.

Distressed Jeans

undefined

Ripped jeans were a popular trend in the late 1980’s, found their way into the 1990’s-2000’s till they finally settled into the fashion scene three years ago. I feel like this trend is slowly starting to suffer an identity crisis and so are the people that wear it. Stressed/distressed/extremely distressed, this look doesn’t belong in your closet anymore.

Do you agree with our pick? What trends are you going to fight for?
