Fashion Police: Douglas Lwanga, Judithiana, Irene Ntale, Bettinah Tianah, Nina Roz, And More

By  |

Welcome to Fashion Police, a new column where our cop apprehends fashion and style offenders. Expect verdicts such as Flop-ish, fly, hot mess and flop.

Hit it!

Douglas Lwanga

Douglas Lwanga is usually well dressed but whatever cookie monster ate his wardrobe and left him with this needs to be hunted down. I can only describe him here as a disgruntled man-child with diaper issues. There’s not a single piece of clothing on him that actually works. The checkered shirt is shabby and the colors are not appealing, the scarf is noisy and unnecessary, the watch is a little too serious for this outfit. The shades are as dark as his face blending in to create compound eyes. The damaged denim jeans should be returned to whatever larger person they fit, it’s as though he dropped something in them. The shoes are actually nice but not suitable for anything here. I wonder why his belt is not buckled, it doesn’t make sense and actually weighs down the already ill-fitting jeans.

VERDICT; HOT-MESS

3/10

Irene Ntale

Irene Ntale’s printed shirt does a good job of making her outfit pop. The shirt, white vest, beige shorts, and shoes are the stuff of fashionistas, quite impressive fashion choices here. However, I’m not here for the bare legs. Irene needs to adopt stockings(like Cindy) if she’s to nail the short shorts trend.

VERDICT; FLY-ISH

7/10

Rema

This outfit has all the makings to be fashion forward and great, but on Rema, it isn’t. Here is why; all the shades are dull so it doesn’t pop. She actually looks somber despite the wide smile because the colors suck all the positive energy out of the pic. The elements on their own though are exquisite; from the thigh-high boots to the winter cape and the beret.

VERDICT; FLY-ISH

7/10

Nina Roz

“Before you walk out the door, look in the mirror and take something off.” Nina Roz could have benefited immensely from that tip, she needed to take that cap and earrings off. The cap is clearly the wrong accessory for this outfit, it makes her head look a bit awkward. The combination of the cropped top and high-waist jeans is amazing and her denim peep-toe heels are to die for.

VERDICT; FLY-ISH

8/10

Sue Ochola

You know that one aunt that wears all her nice things to the barbeque? Here she is. Oh hail the queen of too much; her boyfriend’s leather jacket, her favorite printed jumpsuit, her church-lady choker and the recently purchased pair of shades all had to be in this pic to prove a point that you can have money and still look like you are struggling. This is just plain noisy, a show of wearing things because you have them. Sue needs to look in the mirror and take two or three things off.

VERDICT; FLOP

2/10

Kabs Haloha

Kabs Haloha looks dapper in this suit. The detail on the jacket and waistcoat provide for an almost regal aura.

The lady in the green dress though is the real star here. Her emerald embellished high slit gown is the stuff of Goddesses. Her minimal use of accessories also allows the over-the-top design on the bodice to stand out as it should. Just the right amount of sexy, sass and class.

VERDICT; FLY

10/10

Angella Katatumba

Angella Katatumba wore this painfully ordinary ensemble for a TV appearance. The look is literally basic, kudos to her for choosing black since it gives the illusion of a slimmer body. Also, her wig game is on point. The rest is just painfully boring! Angella…….

VERDICT; FLY-ISH

6/10

Fille

Fille’s recent fashion choices make you think she’s working with her stepsisters. Whoever picks up all this junk and dumps it on her needs to be fired ASAP! Something makes me believe she dived on a rack at a 99 cent store and wore everything on it. Here she mimics a low-rent Bat Woman whose superpowers are limited to simply looking bad. The Arabian chains over the skimpy black ensemble, boots, choker and sleeveless jacket make for homeless hippy couture.  Just because you have it doesn’t mean you wear it all. Nice hair though.

VERDICT; FLOP-ISH

3/10

Spice Diana

Wow, Spice Diana looks good here. For someone who has flopped fashion choices for the past few weeks, Spice Diana rocked this one; the color pattern between black, red and white pops in the positive direction. The intricate understated design on her top, the red jacket, and black jeans with a brown belt show a chic classy woman. The shades, gold chain and bag accessorize the outfit well. The shoes are a bit old church lady-ish but they work here. Good job.

VERDICT; FLY

10/10

Fille

How I wish Fille’s fashion could let her catch a break; if only this had been a pencil skirt, maybe she could have but those hoochie slit pants are far too tacky to let her live. Also given that they match the belt is just so amateur; it’s like a life-size version of a doll outfit that doesn’t work in the real world. Her jewelry missed the mark completely, the pieces don’t even look good standing on their own. She reminds me of Gaetana, the gypsy witch from El Cuepo Del Deseo.

VERDICT; FLOP

2/10

Bettinah Tianah

Elegance is not a word, it’s a statement and Bettina is here to prove it. This gown is life, the kind that’ slay queens‘ living champagne lifestyles on beer budgets cannot try. The shape of her body makes it all the more worth looking at. Her jewelry is simple and ideal to let the dress stand out.

VERDICT; FLY

10/10

Judithiana

I totally get the direction Judithiana was taking with this outfit, and I can’t stop drooling over the results. If there’s anyone that’s unpredictable with her style choices, it has to be this media star. This is ‘homeless chic’ served with bits of drama, the kind of drama I live for.

VERDICT; FLY

10/10

Bettinah Tianah

Bettinah Tianah is the goodness that keeps on giving. This here is how to do ‘sporty chic’. Denim on denim worn with a slogan tee that screams nothing but ‘Famous’. Perhaps the most dramatic thing about this look is the dangling set of KONA earrings. Quite unexpected!

VERDICT; FLY
