Are Models Getting Replaced? Moschino Uses Puppets to Present New Spring Collection!
With the havoc and stagnation caused by the Covid19 pandemic all over the world, one would think that fashion shows would be postponed to when it’ll be over. But when will that be? Moschino designer Jeremy Scott put on a show during Milan Fashion Week last week where the idea of social distancing was brought to life in its truest form.
Instead of working with models as it’s usually done, the brand used marionnete dolls to showcase their new collection.
In an interview after the show, Scot said he wanted to give his audience the same feel of fantasy and magic they would get from a live show-and he did. He wanted to give his audience an experience to escape away from the distress caused by the pandemic. This is where Jim Henson stepped in. Jim’s Creature Shop made the marionettes of favorite models that showcased the 40 looks.
The whole show was unique! We witnessed an old-fashioned salon-style arrangement with an audience of puppets. Some familiar figures like Anna Wintour in a leapard dress and Moschino’s very own Jeremy Scott in a Moschino-branded t-shirt and a crown, could be seen in puppet forms.
Jeremy admits that the project was not only an extensive undertaking but also very expensive. The original designs had to be scaled down to fit the 30-inch puppets without erasing a single detail. We however have to agree that the effort was totally worth it! Everyone’s talking about the Milan Fashion week because of this showcase.
