Eguana Kampala is a brand that has funk firmly embedded in its DNA. A brainchild of Emmanuel Bagwana, a trained fashion designer, the brand has been in existance since 2007. It is hugely influenced by the ’70s, their 2019 Kampala Fashion Week collection being an example.
“The looks we gave Priscilla Ray included a red flared jumpsuit, which is from our spring/summer 2020 collection,” Bangwana explains. “It’s inspired by the 1970’s era. We wanted her to have that disco queen kind of vibe. It was accessorized with those retro looking bags from Joyceline Accessories, also a Ugandan brand.”

“The second look is from our T-shirt line which we produced as a limited edition line, they’re no longer in production. We paired it with a pleated skirt and sneakers to give it that cool streetwear vibe; we wanted to see that part of her that is laid back – not very glammed up for a change.”
