By  |

Having oily skin can be very uncomfortable and unpleasant as your face looks shinny. People with oily skin are prone to acne, blackheads and spots. But by having a good skincare routine and being gentle with your skin, you can ease the problem. Below are 7 tips to help you through your journey of taking very good care of an oily face;

  • WASH YOUR FACE TWICE A DAY.

Gently wash your face every morning and evening using warm water and soap or a gentle cleanser. Use your hands to clean your face and do not use a washcloth. Pat your face dry afterwards — do not rub or irritate the skin. Please don’t over wash your face as this will leave your face very dry and irritated.

  • BE SELECTIVE WITH MOISTURIZERS.

People with oily skin often think that they do not to have moisturize but that’s not right. You should opt for moisturizers that are not oily as they will further clog your pores. There are non-oily moisturizers meant for oily faces and so when buying moisturizers, carefully read the labels so as to choose what is right for your skin. Vary the amount you apply according to the parts of your face that are oilier or drier.

  • USE OIL-FREE COSMETICS.

It is very important for a person with an oily skin to choose cosmetics that will not add to the already existing problem. You should always opt for oil free cosmetics or water based cosmetics. Minimal makeup is also advised for someone with an oily skin so as not to clog pores.

You can also just use a tissue or some toilet paper, but be sure to be gentle with your skin.

  • TRY NATURAL HOME REMEDIES.

These natural home remedies are the easiest way to take care of an oily skin and are within your means. Some of the easiest natural and homemade remedies include;

  • HONEY; To use honey to treat oily skin, spread a thin layer, preferably raw, onto your face; let it dry for about 10 minutes, and rinse thoroughly with tepid water.
  • TOMATOES; The acids in tomatoes may help absorb excess skin oils and help unclog pores.

Apply to the skin in a circular motion.

Leave the mask on for 5 minutes.

Rinse thoroughly with tepid water and pat dry.

You can also apply just tomato pulp or tomato slices to your skin.

  • REGULAR EXERCISE.

A healthy lifestyle of regular exercises is highly recommended for a person with an oily skin as your able to blow off some steam. This is also good as it helps you to release stress, clear your head and relax which is a good state for the skin.

  • BE CAREFUL WHAT TOUCHES YOUR FACE.

Your skin being oily is genetic because the oil is produced by glands below your skin surface but it’s also very good to be mindful of what comes into contact with your face. If you have greasy hair and it is falling over your face, some of this greasiness will be transferred to your skin.
