5 Podcasts To Add To Your Playlist This August

By  |

A podcast can best be described as an audio series. Every so often the podcaster releases a new episode, whether weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. There are many kinds, whether motivational, comedy, conversational or educational. It’s great to listen to on the morning commute to work, running errands or doing a closet cleanse in your room alone. Laugh or learn with these 5 Ugandan podcasts all month long:

5. Opinionated Stooges with a Playlist:

These 3 campus guys got together and created this podcast which is basically them giving their opinions on whatever they fancy in the moment. Everything from movies, music to TV series. They last updated their Soundcloud with a new episode last year, so here’s hoping they can make a comeback and review something like Money Heist. Tune in for a laugh or a review of some of your favourite flicks.

4. Fabiola:

Anitah Fabiola is on a roll! While juggling her show NBS Catchup and her other hustles, she also has a podcast to go with it! In her Fabiola Podcast, she interviews some of the movers and shakers in different industries such as movies, relationship coaching and lot’s more. This one is different because she has hers as a visual podcast, because why not. Her setup is also really cool because she has everything branded with Fabiola Podcast, including pillows, coffee cups and even the mic she uses has a little ‘F’ on it. You can find it on YouTube

3. Downtown Avenue:

Hosted by Naava Gladys and Waiswa Batambuze, this podcast is just 10 episodes in but it delves into the issues of entrepreneurs in Uganda and how to get past them. They are not on Soundcloud like the rest, but they are here to stay from what it sounds like. Doesn’t it get frustrating to try and use business tips that only work for the American business environment yet it isn’t even applicable? Well none of that here, when they can give you tried and tested information on how to survive, but more so thrive in business. Head down to the Downtown Avenue and catch up on the last episodes before a new season is released.

2. George The Poet:

George Mpanga is a Ugandan, London based poet (among many other things). His podcast is artfully arranged, everything from the artwork to the unexpected arrangement of the podcast episodes, which might feature an infusion of music. He speaks about social issues and thoughtful musings coupled with his soothing voice make this a podcast to tune into, at least once.

1. #NotRadio:

I don’t know if it is just bias or pure fact, but I love this podcast. Hosted by Siima, Rudende and KK formerly of XFM, these three go on to rant about anything and everything, with heavy doses of humor in the mix. Their episodes include staples like Rudende’s questionable proverbs, Siima’s Top 5 lists and KK’s passionate advocacy for the herb. The only jarring part about the “yapcast” is that they remove older seasons when a new one is released. Hurry and listen to Season 3 before a new one is upon us.
