Marlone Didn’t Give up on Doreen Even When She Turned Down & Blocked Him On Facebook!
Muwonge Marlone, a Software Engineer, and Doreen Muganwa, a Fine Artist, held their Kukyala on 4th October, 2020 at her Mugwana’s parents’ home in Canaan Estates, Gayaza.
Here is Marlone’s story
I met Doreen at YES library. I was immediately blown away; she was so kind, considerate, good-looking, and had a deep love for God. Our paths did not cross often but after sometime her little brother and I became friends. This sounded like a perfect idea! I thought it was a good opportunity for me to get to know her more and then sweep her off her feet, right? Well, things didn’t go as planned she was young and uninterested in me.
One day I ran into her, she and her cousins were on their way back home from the library. My heart started pumping fast 😛. I said hi and walked them back home. I was nervous because I knew she didn’t like me at all. On the way I got a chance and finally got the word out.
“Doreen you are beautiful I want to be your friend no bad intentions, ” I said. After a moment of reflection, she told me that she doesn’t make friends with strange men. Whoa it was heartbreaking for me but I didn’t give up! I continued to pursue her. After sometime, I stumbled upon her Facebook account, which I sent a message to in an instant. Guess what? She blocked me immediately. Kaboom! Bad idea again.
At this point I felt so bad and didn’t know what to do next. But, I didn’t stop being good to her and saying hi whenever I got a chance to. I really believed she had a badass man that she was interested in because however much I tried to impress her she wasn’t moved at all. She really wanted me to give up.
We met again when she had become Miss Nkumba university. This time it was even worse, she felt so sweet like she had never seen me before. I kept checking on her trying to declare my love for her but again her answer was that she could only value me as friend and nothing more!
To cut this short, I won’t say what happened next but one lucky evening I received a message from one of her close friends that read “Doreen thinks you are a good person and she likes you.” How could that be? I couldn’t believe it. There was only one thing to do now: go to the source.
The next day I asked Doreen if she would join me for lunch. She didn’t hesitate to say yes. After lunch we grabbed a drink at the beach which was an opportune time for me to shoot my shot again.
“So I have a question,” I said. “I remember last time when we talked you said you didn’t see a future between us. Has anything changed?” She paused, looked down, then smiled at me and said, “Yes.” When I asked her what had changed she said that once I stopped trying to impress her, she got the opportunity to know who I really was. Still stunned, I asked her on another date and things went on well.
The Proposal
On 25 July, this year, I proposed to her and guess what! SHE SAID YES… What a Joyful day it was for me.
The Kukyala
In a bid to waste no time, I visited her parents ( Kukyala) on the 4th of October, which went successfully. What a lovely and beautiful family she comes from!! I will be going back for the official introduction ( Gushaba) soon. We have been through a lot together which has created a strong bond between us. I found true love and a best friend in Her. It would have broken my heart if I hadn’t gotten her. I love her wholeheartedly and promise to fulfill all my promise to be her best friend forever, of course, with Christ Jesus by our side.
