Floral embellishments are always popular in bridal, but this season, Zuhair Murad looked past traditional blooms like roses, gardenias, and poppies. Instead, he chose the exotic lotus, a symbol of a pure heart and mind, to define his latest collection. Tulle ball gowns, sheaths, and over skirts came with lotus embroideries that seemed to float along the fabric, as if drifting downstream. The flower reappeared on a long-sleeved tulle dress and a matching veil as well as an off-the-shoulder point d’esprit gown with pockets. Of course, a Murad collection wouldn’t be complete without a regal cape, and Fall’s featured lotus thread work, too.
