Zimbabwe Crowns Their First ‘Miss Albino’

Meet 21-year-old Sithembiso Mutukura, Zimbabwe’s First ‘Miss Albino’. The new beauty queen was crowned at an event aimed at fighting prejudice against albinism where she toppled 12 contestants. According to Africanews.com, the contestants had to respond to questions on stage and model a range of gowns and traditional African robes.

Mutukura received a cash prize of $85 as part of her winning package.

The pageant was aimed to instill confidence in girls living with albinism in Zimbabwe as well as reduce the stigma and to raise awareness.
