When A Photographer Gets Married, All Attention is on The Details – Kenneth & Maria

By  |

After shooting countless weddings, and being part of a number of love stories, Kenneth Mugerwa of Kenshots Photography decided to document his own. The famed weddings photographer, together with his friends and family, descended upon Kabowa town on 10th July, 2020 to get officially introduced by Maria Nakiwolo, his fiance, to her parents. They say that when a photographer gets married, all attention is on the detail. This is exactly what happened at this traditional wedding.

Bride: Maria Nakiwolo Mugerwa, a film writer and director.

Groom: Mugerwa Kenneth, a cinematographer, photographer & founder of Ken’s Shots Photography

Venue: Kabowa

Date: 10th July, 2020

Their story

Maria and I met in the field. We were working on a film project where she was a director while I was a cinematographer. First we bonded as friends, then connected. We realized that we both possessed qualities we desired, and then boom, the rest was history. By the time the project was done, we were together.

Planning the wedding during lockdown

Sadly for us, one day to our Kwanjula, lockdown was announced. All preparations were done including decor setup. Everything had to come to a standstill, we had to stop everything, and plan for another date. After two months of lockdown, we had to plan for a new date,  call to inform our service providers of the new development.

Many of the service providers we contacted asked for the letter of approval,  good enough we had them. The event took place in Kabowa, Rubaga division and was attended by signatories under tight security and SOPs. We had 200 guests in attendance and ended successfully 5:45pm.
Away from changing the date, when it comes to planning, since we are into events, we knew the right service providers we desired to get our vision to life. Being a photographer, I wanted something unique and trending, so we opted for the best.

Wasn’t he nervous being infront of the camera at a wedding

Hahhahaha it was challenging! Honestly, I’m more comfortable behind the camera. But, I managed to handle because I I had trust in my photographer Ivan Kimera because we had worked together and I believed that he would direct me right. And also being that there were many fellow photographers that were present as guests, I had to handle myself well. They were taking photos from all angles.
