Issa Rae, the multi hyphenated genius taking over Hollywood recently graced the covers of Hollywood Reporter and when I tell you, wigs were sntached! Necks were stepped on! She unapologetically refused us to breathe and I love it! The looks were regal and feminine, and she was radiant, like the ever rising star she is.

In the interview, she spoke about what her hit show Insecure getting multiple Emmy nominations meant for her, and her castmates; “Anybody can tell you when I heard Yvonne’s name, that’s when I got really excited. I had been nominated before, but I’m very much aware that I don’t do this by myself. I did feel guilty. It was just like, “Everybody else is killing it and they’re really helping to elevate me and they’re not getting the recognition.”

She has been passionate about making content by black people for black people, and the position she is rising to puts her in the perfect position to lift up other black artists who deserve what they have been working towards, something she has been doing. “My longevity will be opening the door for others,” she says, and for that, we stan heavy!
