Make a date with us this tomorrow at 2PM as we chat with Beatrace Angut Oola via Instagram Live, on what fashion will look like post-covid 19. As Uganda’s fashion industry heads into a challenging era, she will be reflecting on the opportunities and the lessons to take as we move forward.
Oola is a Hamburg-based Ugandan interdisciplinary fashion expert, curator and advocate. She has spearheaded the conversation around inclusivity, curated exhibitions in Germany and worked on knowledge exchange projects in Africa and has also championed best in class practitioners in the diaspora and the continent.
She is founder of the media brand Fashion Africa Now and the agency Apya productions. In 2012, she founded the first high-end runway show and creative agency for designers of African heritage in Germany. In 2016 she relaunched Africa Fashion Day Berlin (2012 – 2015) into Fashion Africa Now, a content curated online network, and information platform for creatives of African descent. Her degree in film and television business led her into the art department, where she worked for 3 years in film production companies. Her work continued as a fashion stylist in the advertising industry.
Today she works as a creative producer for international photo shoots for fashion, lifestyle and luxury brands, as well as cultural institutions. Additionally, her experience in the creative industry enables her to work as a project manager, public speaker, moderator, consultant and curator.
APYA Productions is a creative consulting agency, the first one in Germany that focuses on the creative industry.
The chat will be hosted by Lyn Atwiine, Satisfashion UG’s editor. Don’t miss it! This Thursday 21st May, 2020 at 2pm Ugandan time.
