Pioneer Kenyan House Prepares Major Runway Presentation at Central Exhibition Hall “Manege” on October 1st in Collaboration with Nairobi Fashion Week

In a major milestone for Kenya’s creative economy, heritage fashion house KikoRomeo has been confirmed to present its runway collection on the official calendar of Moscow Fashion Week on October 1, 2026.

Taking place at the iconic Central Exhibition Hall “Manege,” the upcoming runway presentation marks a significant moment for Kenyan fashion on the global stage. Facilitated through a strategic collaboration with Nairobi Fashion Week, the showcase opens new international consumer markets, highlights Kenyan material intelligence, and reinforces Kenya’s standing in the international fashion community.

KikoRomeo: Wearable Art as a Cultural Bridge

Founded in Nairobi in 1996 by Ann McCreath, KikoRomeo—meaning “Adam’s Apple” in Kiswahili—is widely recognized as a pioneer of modern Kenyan fashion. Built on the core principle of using fashion as a medium to foster cross-cultural understanding and dignified economic trade, the house transforms heritage craft into architectural wearable art.

Today, led by Founder Ann McCreath with Iona McCreath leading Special Projects, KikoRomeo brings a deeply intentional collection to the Moscow runway. The presentation showcases Kenyan craftsmanship fused with contemporary tailoring—featuring rainfed organic cottons, handloom textiles, art fabrics, zero-waste garment construction, and signature hand-carved coconut shell buttons.

Industry Leadership Perspectives

“Securing a place on the official calendar of Moscow Fashion Week is an unprecedented opportunity for Kenya’s fashion industry,” said Brian James Kihindas, Creative Director of Nairobi Fashion Week. “This platform, realized through our collaboration with Moscow Fashion Week, directly fulfills our vision: to unlock international markets, champion our creative economy, and position Kenya’s extraordinary design talent where it belongs—on the world stage.”
