Ugandan British creative Danny Kasirye captures Cynthia Erivo for Stylist’s February cover, marking a commanding new chapter as the award-winning performer prepares to return to the West End in a bold, queer retelling of Dracula, where she will take on all 23 roles.
Erivo speaks to Yomi Adegoke about South London roots, Strictly Come Dancing and a transformative few years in Hollywood. “I’m very loud about the fact that I love the work I do,” she says. “There’s nothing wrong with saying, ‘I’m proud of the work I did.’”
Kasirye is a Ugandan-British photographer and filmmaker based between London and New York. He’s described as one with a unique perspective on fashion photography, animated by his constant search for non-conformity and authenticity. He took an interest in film and photography during his late teens which led to him switching from a degree in finance to pursue film studies.
Whilst sharpening his knowledge as a filmmaker at university, he picked up an interest in fashion photography. His background in film heavily influences his approach to photography, always bringing a sense of purity, joy, and beauty in its many forms. See more of Danny’s work HERE
