10 Ugandan Fashion Photographers (Apart From Guilio Molfese) You Need to Know
When you think about fashion photography there’s usually one name that resonates everywhere, Giulio Molfese of Photo4Fashion. He’s great, undeniably, but there are a bunch of talented photographers who might not be as widely celebrated for their art as he is. Some of the people on this list you may know, some you might not, but if you know none of them, then you’re welcome in advance.
1. Soul Images Art
His view is very ethereal so the photos that come out might be mistaken for something you dreamt of last night. His vibe is largely diffused and he isn’t afraid to use the background to add a message to his photos.
2. Walter Photography
3. Kwezi Solomon
Moody, emotional and communicative; these are three things I would use to describe his photography. Although he mostly does portraits, the focus on detail would be great for someone doing a jewelry shoot, for example.
4. Roll and Rollie
Manzi Rolland may have great, clean cookie-cutter images, but they don’t fail to push a boundary or two. He works with Absolut Resolution and thus has shot a couple of recognizable face, like Sheebah Karungi, Irene Ntale, Ann Kansiime and the like.
5. Kanchu With The Camera
Muhammad Ali Kanch is an events and portrait photographer. Thing is, most times where there are events so is there fashion. His camera lens can be found in spaces like Nyege Nyege festival, and other quaint artsy nights. Check out his feed and see, even a little darkness cannot deter him from coming up with a beautiful image, full of raw emotions and great fashion.
6. Pictures That William Takes
William Kane has an IG feed that would make any slay mama jealous. His work ranges from portraits to events and also fashion shoots. He is not afraid to incorporate props into his image composition in a way that adds an extra pinch of oomph, while keeping the intention clear.
7. Viki Soleil
Her work is versatile. From food photography that makes you want to devour the chicken whole, to street fashion, travel diaries and sick self portraits. She can adapt to any environment, and her use of selective focus and depth bring more to the photo than we have the words to describe.
8. Nelly Salvatore
We talked about Nelson Byanyima’s eye on the recently concluded Nyege Nyege Festival but he also has the skill for fashion and editing chops to take a great shot to make it phenomenal. His work will speak for itself, lemme not say too much
9. Ochieng Photography
His raw, street style usually has a lot to communicate as seen in this post and yet can be versatile enough to let clothing speak for itself, like when he manned the camera on this shoot. Check out his feed, you might see what we see.
10. Ninno Jack
He mostly does portrait work and landscape photos, but when he merges the two, art emerges. He recently got hitched and was behind the camera capturing the beauty of his bride himself, and had the internet in a frenzy looking for photographer boyfriends. Just take a look at this moment.
