Total splashes shs35m on festival float, dancers

As other companies cut back budgets for their floats to as low as shs3 million, due to the rising dollar rate, Total Uganda splashed a whopping shs35 million on its float at the just concluded Kampala City Festival, we
can exclusively reveal.

The road monster that took the shape of a cooking gas cylinder was constructed by fabrication house commonly known as Tank. Our highly placed sources at the company say the float was conceptualized in Paris, by French designers who added glamour to the “Gas Cylinder” as many called it. To date, the oil, solar and gas energy firm has splashed a total of shs230 million to boost the face of the Kampala Capital City Authority festival.

According to Lorrain Nkoba, the company’s marketing and communication officer Total has been sponsoring the festival since 2013 and every year the company’s sponsorship as grown. This year’s festival fell on October 4, 2015 and attracted over sh800 million in sponsorship.

The annual event brings together people of Kampala to celebrate their city. Common beneficiaries of these funds are local entertainers including; comedians like Fun Factory, stingers dance group, Salvador, and musicians like Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Sheebah, Irene Ntale, and Pallaso among others.
