South African fashion brand MUNKUS was founded in 2019 by Thando Ntuli, Munkus is a contemporary, colorful, trans-seasonal brand. A key element in identifying the brand is layering, which allows customers to have multiple pieces that can be assembled in different ways.
They use a collection of certified organic & ethically sourced fabrics. Core fabrics are cotton, hemp canvas and linen, highlighted with the use of bull denim and organically printed pieces on their natural fabrics. All prints are processed through pigment printing which is one of the most environmentally friendly technology available today. There is no steaming or washing required which dramatically lowers power consumption and water usage and reduces the environmental impact substantially.
For their latest SS’ 22 Collection that was showcased at SA fashion week dubbed “SISENDLELEN” a word that translates to ‘ WE ARE ON OUR WAY’ the brand showed looks named ‘ME’ in various South African languages and ends with look seven named ‘WE’ (ME, MINA, NNA, MNA, NNE, MINE, WE)
“This collection represents a collaboration of women on a path to finding their best ‘me’ “- says the creative director
