One of the most exciting things about February the 14th aside from spending the day with your loved one , is getting ready for the day itself !

You obviously put in time and effort to look your best on the de-day but to help you have more choices as to what kind of makeup you should go in for , here are a few make up looks you can recreate for Valentine’s day this year!

Soft Brown Undertones

Nude shades have been all the rage for quite a while now in the beauty world so why not incorporate some nude shades in your Valentine’s day makeup look. It gives a soft effortless chic look .

For this look , you may want to go easy with your eye liner , nothing too dramatic. But don’t forget to wear some lashes in there and add a good coat of mascara , it changes everything without making it seem like you did too much with your makeup.

Don’t forget to also wear bronzer for this look and light contour , it gives shape to everything. Lastly add a good coat of your favourite brown lipstick , if you don’t want to create a very vamp look , go in for a lighter shade of brown . You could also apply some gloss over it to make it pop even more! Don’t forget to let your hair down a bit , it creates that ” pretty girl next door ” kind of look.

This one is a bit bold but hot and great for Val’s day. It’s about creating that dark vibe but with a good amount of glow to it. For this look , you might want to contour to the best of your ability ( don’t over do it though ) and then keep your T-zone ( the area around the nose , forehead ) glowing .

You can also highlight the inner corner of your eyes with a silver or golden shade of color. Again for this look , you can skip the liner or keep it minimal , you want the attention all over the face and not just one area. However do wear false lashes if you can and apply a coat of mascara , it brightens up your eyes. Highlight to the best of your ability and pick out a dark brown lipstick of your choice.

It’s best to line out your lips before applying the lipstick because for this look , ther’es a lot of structure going on , with the defined cheek bones and high lighted nose and inner eyes , keep the lips lined as well.

The Classic Red

Red has always been a classic go to color that represents love which is the essence of Val’s day. There are so many ways to incorporate red into your makeup. It could be in the eye shadows , the lipsticks or blush or bronzer , you choose but here are some amazing ways to wear it for the 14th of February.

Bright Reds

When you opt for red , go all out , wing that liner , *scara your lashes , pack on that high lighter and contour like never before. This look obviously takes more time to curate and you have to be patient , blend everything out perfectly , give it your best after all you’re partially do it for your loved one so why not do it perfectly !

Pay close attention to your eye liner , drag it out and create a perfect wing . Never forget false lashes for this one , and for an added effect apply some mascara to them . The beauty is in the details with this look .

The only thing you might not want to go over board with for this look is your eye shadow. You might want to wear colors that resonate with your bronzer or blush so that your makeup doesn’t end up looking too heavy.

Contour to the best of your ability but avoid creating dark shadows underneath your contour , it’s meant to look smooth and clean. Apply a good dose of high lighter right where the sun hits you the best and don’t forget that gorgeous red lipstick to be applied with a lip liner for better definition.

Duller Reds

The fun thing about wearing duller reds for Valentine’s day is that you have more room to play around with your eye shadows and eyes . Go all in for eyeshadow but it’s better to  work with colors within your lipstick’s shade of color . But don’t worry too much about that , have fun with your eyes.

Line your eyes, wear lashes , *scara the lashes , just go for it . However with whatever you’re wearing on your eyes , the goal is to open them up a bit so stay away from heavy colors on the lids and play with sunset shades instead.

Ombre Tones

Ombre lips have been a hit in Kampala for a while now ! You can also wear them for Val’s day too.

When blended out well , ombre lips look really great . Whats more , if you don’t have volume in your lips and want to create some, go in for ombre lips . The lining of the lips definitely creates the illusion of added volume to the lips.

One trick that I learned to make ombre lips work well with the rest of the makeup is to wear eye shadows and blush in the same shade as the lipstick . It creates uniformity while giving off a chic and lovely look for Val’s day!

Whatever shade of pink you opt for , the rules are almost the same  -pink literally works with anything. For Val’s day though , a good defined eye would work best with pink lipstick!

The Smoky Eye

One thing is for sure when it comes to a good smokey eye , you’re bound to turn heads .

Keep everything else well blended and minimal and then pay attention to the eyes. The way you ‘smoke’ out your eyes makes or breaks this look.

While creating your smokey eye , have some dark colors on your lids not necessarily black only ! Make use of gunmetal shades or colors and mix them up to create a dark sultry smokey eye! The hint of other dark colors in there lights up the look a little more!

And that’s it , some makeup looks you could try out for Valentine’s day !
