The Katos Can’t Wait To Welcome a New Member to Their Family!

The Joys of Motherhood!

Angie of Pink Coconut Decor and Daville Photography came together to celebrate the joys of two expectant mothers, Jinny and Norah, with a stunning photo shoot. In the second installment of this story, we bring you Norah Kato, who is expecting her second child. (See the first part here incase you missed it.)

Norah Kato a Human Resources guru and Stephen Kato, her husband, who is a Quantity Surveyor, were thrilled to celebrate this milestone in style.

Norah’s story

When Angie brought up the photoshoot idea, it woke up the conviction my hubby and I had shelved for a long time. So, we looked at this as an opportunity to have our family photoshoot done.

Like the old adage by Charles Bukowski goes, “some moments are nice, some are nicer, some are even worth writing about”, photoshoots especially when pregnant fall under the latter. Indeed as an expectant mother, owing to the joys and bumps, stresses and strains that we go through, I looked forward to the time when such moments would be captured.

By the way, talking about Angie, she is an amazing friend who later became my personal person, we met through my big sister Sarah who happened to be my maid of honour and God mother to Kimberly.  Since then, we have bonded stronger each passing day.

Back to the photoshoot, I am a second time mother. My amazing husband Stephen and I are blessed with a 6 year old daughter Kimberly who brings Joy to us. These two (hubby and Kimberly) have a special love for photos more than I, hence making this a very priceless moment for the family. Thank you my Amazing Hubby and Kimberly.

When Angie finally said this had to happen, ideas were shared between ourselves ( Angie, Sarah and I) and all we had to do was get ready for the big day. Earlier, choosing a day was a hustle since my work schedule was so tight. We finally settled for a Saturday to have this done and it was indeed a beautiful time.

Knowing how Angie and the Pinkcoconut brand do not settle for less even if it’s just setting up a dinner table at home, the entire planning process was a comprehensive one: a couple of concepts were shared, sets/lay outs developed, dresscode agreed upon and of course cameras set up.

Special thanks too go to the best designer in the land Lillian Kyakabi who came up with all the fancy dresses and hubby’s attires too.  Girl works with passion and comes up with exquisite solutions!!

To Faridah who did the hair and make up, thank you for sparing your time and presence throughout the whole session. You are a star💥Appreciation too goes to Daville who is the most sought after photographer in the region. Davile knows how to bring a client’s creativity to life and boy he did a perfect job.

Special appreciation goes to Sarah. Sarah, thank you for being my role model and the best production director during the photoshoot. Lastly, I want to thank Angie. Angie, your professionalism , the quality of your leadership and your selfless personality have been an inspiration to me. You offered your office that we used as a studio for the photoshoot, you too offered your entire decor including the wonderful team that executed an excellent project even in your absence on the Dday. Thank you so much for being You!!!

Finally I thank God almighty for the special gift of family and friends that are walking this beautiful journey with us.I praise you all the days of my life.

Much love and blessings all the way🙏🏻

I see a close correlation between maternity and flowers. They come with a lot gentleness. After the flowers, we also added candles, because of their tendency to be symbolic of the following of light. This can also be the following of a dream or legacy. In this case it is the following of a generation of women. So, we lit the candles.

Then we when went to the balloon room. Here we tried to create a theme of fun, softness, gentleness and fragility. These are all the things that are depicted by the nature of a balloon. When we got to the bathtub, we had all these soft bubbles, you know bubbles don’t last forever, just to bring to life the delicateness of being an expectant mother. We have the blooms coming through and candles.

The fact that we managed to interlace family members into the shoot, was also symbolic. It’s not just the bump. We did this to show that it takes a village to bring a new being to life, it takes a family to raise a child. This young person, friend or relative who is in the shoot is part and parcel of  this new child’s journey.

Her relationship with the expectant mothers

I’ve known Norah for very many years. I met her through a friend of mine called Sarah Kironde, the production director of this shoot. I met Jinny two years ago, once again through Sarah. Together we created a group that’s inclusive of Daville, the photographer. I created this group because I realized that I had gotten to a point where; you know when you are so good at your game everybody just keeps saying only the nicest things about you. I wanted to be in a place where I could get critiqued. Hence the formation of this group. We are amongst the top service providers in this field. But, because we didn’t start off using social media, we felt a little left behind. So, I sat down with the ladies and Daville, we see if we could do something different from what everyone else is doing.

Norah had been praying for a baby. Then all of a sudden, in the same year, Jinny is expecting a child. Norah is expecting a child. And, Daville’s wife is also expecting a baby. Since the latter wasn’t part of the core team, we decided that we would do something for her afterwards.

The concept

These two girls are the same, but so different. So, I came up with three different concepts that portrayed who they are. We went with; the glam, the sexy and the playful. These are three concepts which embody who they are.
