The Conundrum That Was The AMI Awards Afrika And All The Drama This Week Offered

By  |

Love drama? Here is a dramatic take on the most dramatic entertainment stories of the week which you probably missed drooling over the great fashion on our platforms.

AMI Afrika Awards aborted

The cancellation of the first edition of the AMI Awards has hit Uganda’s entertainment industry harder than a slap from a mother who just found her son finger-deep in the soup pan. The cancellation was due to the CEO of the event going AWOL. Let me break it down. Mr Esaie Schnaps, a Las Vegas-based producer got into contact with former Miss Uganda and BBA contestant Stella Nantumbwe and together they decided to organize the AMI Africa People’s Choice Awards in Kampala. Creepy thing is, the CEO kept giving Ella shout-outs on social media as the “ best VP ever” Furthermore, Ms Ella is the only one that apparently has seen this mysterious “boss man”. …talk about a phantom. That’s when I started to wonder if he was a fraud. According to his social media, he’s not that big of a deal; his posts get only 9 likes, 3 shares and when he tags Ella her friends like and share, at least he upgrades to 50 likes. Then the content issue arose; Can we not forget that these were music awards yet the only vibrant activity ever done was a model casting for the fashion show and on top of all that, the service providers were never paid so they now have gaping holes in their pockets. As I was wondering what happened to the money, insight from an inside scoop informed me that allegedly the boss man went to western union and tried to send all the money at once but it was blocked on grounds of money laundering. But this story too has loopholes; there isn’t a western union banker that would assist you with a large transaction minus taking proper precautions. Meanwhile, everything has shut down, Ms Ella has gone AWOL, Mr Schnaps last posted on Facebook that he’s en route to Entebbe but has since gone missing. This situation is too fishy for even a shady human like me to contemplate.

RUYONGA’S SOCIAL MEDIA ROAST

Ruyonga (That gospel musician that looks like he could eat maize on the cob through a picket fence) has managed to figure out how to get more attention to himself which is by posting about Elvis Mbonye. He jumps at the slightest chance to praise the self-proclaimed prophet about everything and nothing. Fans were shocked by this latest stunt when he wrote, “I see no difference between my father Prophet Elvis Mbonye and Jesus…” I wasn’t shocked. Having observed Ruyonga’s page, I noticed that his “Mbonye” posts have 20 plus shares, a major upgrade from his usual 5 to 7 shares. Being the “coolest” gospel rapper hasn’t saved Ruyonga from the backlash of Jesus’s children and other bible-thumping churchgoers. Many threatened to even delete his music from their devices, others quoted the bible while rebuking him and the majority just tossed out outright insults; calling his vision screwed, among other not so nice things. On the bright side, Ruyonga is trending (for the first time in his career) though to me he is the perfect blueprint for building a clown. He needs to Google ‘blasphemy’ next time before he takes to social media to post about anything.

GASHUMBA-FAMEIKA-GRENADE LOVE TRIANGLE

Beef is brewing among up and coming artists Fik Fameica and Grenade allegedly over Sheila Gashumba. Apparently, a scuffle ensued a heated exchange between the two guys at Sky Lounge and had it not been for security and friends intervening, a fist fight could have broken out. My sources revealed that Grenade was enjoying monopoly over the TV star until Fik Fameica snatched her. Sheila was spotted publicly romancing Grenade at last year’s coke studio launch at Fame Lounge in Kololo and again at the DJ Roja and Slick Stuart show at Golf Course Hotel. We are yet to see her with Fik though, I keep a close watch over this story.

DAVID LUTALO RUNS BACK TO FIRST BABY MAMA

When times are hard, people run back to a familiar territory, I guess that’s what happened to David and his “first cut” Sharon Walukaga. It’s been three years since these lovebirds separated amidst cheating rumors. David accused Sharon of sleeping with his former manager Derrick Orone and a string of other men. The parents of two children decided to separate following a very nasty public breakup that saw them hang each other’s laundry out to dry. I guess they decided to put all this aside, however, I’m beginning to think that Lutalo has been humbled by his recent misfortunes that included flopped shows that even saw him lose his car.
