Talented Photographer Prince Gyasi Makes Pirelli Calendar History, Kanye’s Infamous “Sock Shoes,” Hit the Market Plus More
1. Prince Gyasi Makes Pirelli Calendar History
The Pirelli Calendar is an iconic annual publication produced by the Pirelli company, known for its high-quality tires. Unlike traditional calendars, the Pirelli Calendar is not a standard date planner; rather, it is a prestigious and limited-edition artistic publication that features carefully curated, exclusive photographs of renowned models and celebrities. What sets the Pirelli Calendar apart is its emphasis on art and photography, with some of the world’s most celebrated photographers being commissioned to create visually striking and often provocative images.
The 2024 release of the renowned Pirelli Calendar, often referred to as ‘the Cal,’ marks a historic moment as the latest addition to this progressively fashion-forward collection was lensed by 28-year-old photographer and visual artist Prince Gyasi. Notably, Gyasi is the inaugural Black and African talent to undertake the prestigious task of shooting for the calendar. Embracing the theme of timelessness, the pages of the calendar showcase influential and groundbreaking personalities from the realms of fashion, art, culture, and entertainment. Among the notable figures featured are Naomi Campbell, Angela Bassett, Idris Elba, Amanda Gorman, Teyana Taylor, and more. Let’s delve into this exceptional edition.

2. The YZY Pods, Kanye’s Infamous “Sock Shoes,” Hit the Market
Arriving on the YEEZY webstore, the YZY PODS are available in one color (black) and come in just three sizes: size “1” is for feet under a US 6 or EU 39, size “2” is a US 7-9.5 or EU 40-43, and size “3” is a US 10-13 or EU 44-47.
Apart from their wide size range, the YZY PODS offer a minimalistic look. They’re available in a single all-black colorway, seemingly made of a stretchy knit material. Roughly the height of a tall crew sock, their collar reaches a wearer’s mid-shin, and a thin rubber sole provides protection and cushioning for the sole of a wearer’s foot.
Ye has been seen wearing various sock-like footwear styles (and even just socks sans shoes) several times over the course of 2023 as he undergoes yet another sartorial shift. In May, his Mascotte Holdings Inc. company applied for a US patent around the “sock shoes,” noting that the design would be used on “socks” and “socks with leather soles.”
