Nigerian Brand Orange Culture’s Latest Collection Gives A Master Class On How To Fashionably Design And Wear Prints

By  |

Nigerian brand Orange Culture is the brain child of Adebayo Oke-Lawal , Adebayo insists it is a “movement” that covers universal silhouettes with an African touch to a creative class of men, translating into a heady mixture of Nigerian inspired print fabrics, colour and contemporary urban street wear.

This does not however, mean that Orange Culture forgets women who have taken over the brand, giving an androgynous twist on Adebayo’s designs. The garments answer to just about anyone who’s interested in telling a story with the way they present themselves. All pieces are manufactured in Lagos, from ethically-sourced fabrics from local Nigerian fabric makers. Orange Culture takes our staff through rigorous training processes and offer them the opportunity to attend skill acquisition initiatives.

For their Fall/Winter 2022 collection dubbed ‘This Place Called Home’ Orange Culture designed three prints which were borne by memories of things that were lost in a fire at Adebayo’s home when he was younger . There’s the tree house print, the mum’s garden print and the daddy’s home print. Each represented home for Adebayo as a child. “This collection is my playground of memories”- Adebayo says.

About the collection Orange Culture said-

“The shapes are revisited archive Orange culture silhouettes and in usual form we play with fabrics based on our disbelief in gender barriers for style. For us winter allows you to luxuriate in a multitude of colors to keep your memories vibrant till the summer time.”

“We wanted to take you back to a time between 1995-2003 when images were printed and scanned to your computer for safe keeps (which we did for these). I wanted the images to feel like the images I had from Christmas parties, nollywood movie covers, family portraits and hangouts with friends – those hard copy images lost physically but kept mentally!”
