For Azawi’s Love Tekaawa music video, directed by Aaronaire and styled by Solomon Tazibone under Kredibility Styling, the fashion tells a story of transformation, pushing the artist slightly outside her comfort zone while keeping her signature flair intact.

Speaking about the process, Solomon revealed that the project took time to come together. “From the time the treatment for Love Tekaawa was shared to the actual shoot, there was a lot of back-and-forth,” he explained. “When I first saw the brief, I was a bit unsure because one of the looks, a yellow dress with a turban wasn’t typical of Azawi’s androgynous, tailored style.”

Before starting, Solomon double-checked with her management. “I asked, are you sure about the dress? Because Azawi usually goes for structured silhouettes. But they told me that’s what Aaronaire wanted,” he said. After confirming with the director himself, Solomon decided to embrace the challenge. “It felt refreshing to do something different, something that showed her in a new light.”

The yellow dress and turban look, which appears in the video, was designed to exude regality. However, it didn’t come together easily. “When we got to set, the dress was too tight around the hips and couldn’t go up,” Solomon recalled. “I had to undo the seams and adjust it manually with a needle and thread to make it fit.”

The second major outfit was a silver shimmery two-piece, inspired by a jumpsuit from the concept brief. “For practicality, I made it a pants-and-top set with shoulder pads and fringe running from the shoulders down,” he shared. “That look was more typical of Azawi, bold, edgy, and confident.”

Solomon also created one of the video’s standout accessories, a blinged-out veil seen in a close-up shot. “Aaron wanted something sparkly for that scene, so I made it myself the night before the shoot,” he said. “I got home, placed the veil on a dummy head, and started attaching stones one by one. Some details, I just prefer to do myself because I know how they’ll translate on camera.”

Reflecting on the experience, Solomon described Love Tekaawa as both challenging and rewarding. “As a stylist, I love concepts that push me,” he said. “This one gave me that adrenaline rush, figuring out how to bring the director’s vision to life while still keeping Azawi’s essence.”

He also praised the artist for her professionalism and openness. “Azawi is very easy to work with. She takes direction well and gives you space to be creative,” he noted. “Even when there’s a clear concept from the director, she trusts you to do your thing.”
