Statement T-Shirts taking over Kampala
By Kwynn Kyohan-Gatare Florencio
They are fun and trendy and come in all sizes, colors and designs. The statement tees also commonly known as custom shirts/tops are taking the city by storm. At first only corporate companies were into the whole trend of getting t-shirts personalized to advertise their brands ,over the years however, ordinary fashionistas that want to make a statement have adapted the craze. Contrary to popular belief especially by the elder ones that custom clothes are for the “young wild and free” we at Satisfashion believe every fashion freak should own one.
Usually carrying very funny and hilarious statements, a custom t-shirt or top is a master piece especially for a casual look, simply because;
• It will make you stand out in any type of crowd without trying so hard as it’s a major attention grabber
• You will air out what’s on your mind without saying a single word.
• It’s majorly about the crazy fun associated with these shirts that really counts
• It’s stylish and because your stylish, you should own one
Some people have gone on to use the customized tees to do social campaigns .I mean who doesn’t remember the “Save the Mini Skirt” campaign. Many fashionistas in a bid to put across what they thought about the proposed bill threw it in parliamentarians’ faces using statement tees. At every social event as well as along the streets we were sure to spot someone with the “Save the Mini Skirt” shirt.
Well that was just a case in point, we have seen slogans mostly popularized by celebrities get even greater boost and hype courtesy of the custom shirts. At least you have seen someone putting on a tee with a statement like “Kijja Kugwa” or “Kiki Ekiganye” or “100% Bebe” among others. The only caution we give you though is to mind the statement on your shirt especially if you opt to buy an already printed one. Some statements may come off really vulgar and make you appear NOT classy. Besides that, get your own customized/personalized tee NOW.
