How To incorporate The New Co-ord Fashion Trend into your Day to Day Style

By  |

Co-ord short form of coordinate : one of two or more pieces of clothing that are made in matching colors or styles so that they can be worn together:

You have probably noticed the increased popularity of co ord sets and two-piece outfits. The typical co-ord gained popularity in the 70s before it saw a resurgence in the 90s and then the trend has further evolved today into the massive variety, we have on the market now.

A two-piece set has given us the freedom to incorporate other styles and trends and update the fashion piece with more modern designs as well as experiment with vibrant patterns and bold colours. When skater skirts were the height of fashion, we saw them merged into co-ords, crop tops are still going strong and so are a popular choice for co-ords, we also often see midi skirts and high waisted trousers in modern coordinate sets.

The fashion world has created a co-ord for every occasion from loungewear to formal attire, there is a co-ord for any event. If this is not enough to show why co-ords are so popular, let’s look a little further into why they are so on-trend right now.

Variation

There is literally a co-ord for everyone. There is complete freedom when it comes to co-ords as there are no rules about exactly what the two pieces need to be or what material they should be made from. For a more formal, sophisticated look you can keep a tailored pantsuit whilst there are super stretchy, oversized lounge suits perfect for a cosy night in. If you like bold patterns and colours there are plenty of options to help you stand out from the crowd but if you prefer something understated and effortlessly chic, then you can go for more neutral tones and muted colours. If your personal style is grungy, boho, vintage, casual, girly or if you do not have a set style at all – you will be spoilt for choice when looking for a co-ord to add to your wardrobe.

Versatile

When buying a two-piece set you are just getting one new outfit, you are getting a whole host of new possibilities. You of course have the option to wear the two pieces together, but you can also wear them separately – wear your crop top with a pair of jeans or wear the skirt with a different top. If your chosen co-ord is very flowery and summery then you can adapt it to winter by swapping out the skirt for a pair of trousers or switching the top with a cosy turtleneck.

Easy to wear

A co-ord takes all the stress out of choosing an outfit. Whenever you are struggling to put an outfit together, like those days when nothing seems to look right and you hate your entire wardrobe, a co-ord is a ready-made outfit ready to be thrown on for any occasion.

You do not have to worry about clashing patterns or colours, no more wondering if two items go together or if the cut of your top works with the waistline of your bottoms. The variety and variation also mean that there is a co-ord to suit everyone and you can find one that you are comfortable in to keep as your go-to outfit.

We’ve taken the liberty to curate some chic co-ord looks to provide some inspo for your new or next style purchase; see looks below:
